I decided to try making homemade condensed milk from milk. I used milk with a fat content of 3.5 percent. The bottle contained 900 ml. I didn’t adjust the amount of sugar, I added it as for 1 liter of milk. I boiled the milk with sugar and vanilla in an enamel pan for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The milk did not change color or consistency for a long time, and I already began to think that I was doing something wrong. However, exactly an hour later the milk began to turn beige, and after another 20 minutes it thickened. It tasted like real condensed milk. From 900 ml of milk I got 200 ml of condensed milk. At first my daughter thought it was some kind of cream, but after trying it, she said it was “terribly delicious.” Thank you very much for the recipe, katushafin! Now I will prepare condensed milk myself.
