  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make pie dough without milk? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Take the highest grade flour. Any odorless vegetable oil will do.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Heat the water to a temperature of 37-40 degrees. If you don’t have a cooking thermometer, you can determine the required temperature by placing a drop of water on the inside of your wrist. If the feeling is neutral - neither cold nor hot, then the temperature is correct. Add sugar, salt and yeast to the water. Stir until dissolved.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

If the temperature is too low, the yeast will work more slowly and will take longer to cook. At elevated temperatures, the yeast will die, the dough will not rise and the taste of the finished pies will be spoiled. Add 4 tablespoons of flour, mix and leave for 20-30 minutes in a warm place.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

If a fluffy cap appears on the surface, it means the yeast has activated and you can continue cooking.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the dough. Reserve another spoonful for greasing the bowl (step 8). Mix everything well so that the oil is distributed evenly throughout the liquid.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Sift most of the remaining flour into a bowl. Add the liquid component to the flour. Knead the dough.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

When the flour in the bowl runs out, add it in small portions. When it becomes difficult to knead with a spoon, start doing it with your hands. Knead the dough thoroughly.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Add flour until you reach the desired consistency. Do not “fill” the dough with flour - it should turn out soft and tender. If the flour remains, it will be useful to you when you make pies. Grease the bottom and sides of the bowl with vegetable oil to prevent the dough from sticking to the bowl. Also knead the finished dough with butter using your hands. Cover the bowl with a napkin or towel so that it does not dry out and rises well. Leave in a warm place for about 1.5-2 hours.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

When the dough has increased several times in volume, it is ready and you can start working with it.

I decided to fry pies and chose dough for pies without milk and eggs on water to implement my idea. It is made simply, from the most affordable ingredients that can always be found at home. For the filling, I made mashed potatoes with fried onions. During frying, the pies increased slightly in size. The finished dough is very soft and tender, just perfect for fried pies! Thanks for the recipe!
