    Let's prepare the ingredients for the tincture. Chokeberry can be used either fresh or frozen, and even dried. The best raw material is considered to be rowan collected in late autumn, when there were already the first frosts and the rowan was frozen. Frost destroys sorbic acids, due to which rowan has a viscous and bitter taste, which is transmitted to the drink. The berries should be large, juicy and without spoilage.

    We wash the berries thoroughly, let the water drain, and if they are fresh, you can freeze them in the freezer, leave them for several hours, preferably overnight, then defrost them again. Ripe chokeberry is quite sweet, and if the tincture is prepared for medicinal purposes, then sugar should not be added to it. If this is a drink for a feast, you can add sugar if desired.

    Place chokeberry berries in a glass container and fill with moonshine.

    Moonshine for tincture should be taken at 50 degrees of strength. The liquid should cover the berries by at least one centimeter. We close the container with a nylon lid and put it in a cool, dark place for 60 days. This is the ideal period for preparing the right tasty tincture, but if you can’t wait to taste this drink, the aging period can be reduced to 40-45 days.

    Strain the tincture through gauze folded in several layers. Pour it into glass bottles, cork it and store it in a cool, dark place. Chokeberry tincture can be stored for up to three years without losing its medicinal properties.

The chokeberry tincture on moonshine has an amazing, slightly tart taste, is drunk smoothly and does not give a strong intoxication. It is perfect for friendly feasts, birthdays and New Years. In minimal quantities it has a healing effect on the body. For preventive purposes, tincture of black rowan moonshine can be drunk 1 teaspoon twice a day - morning and evening. Now is not the season, the mountain ash is not yet ripe, but, as they say, “we had it with us.” In the fall, during the first frosts, I freeze chokeberry berries and then use them for various delicious purposes. So they came in handy for tinctures. In my photographs, the drink has not yet infused, but in a few days it will acquire a stunning, rich ruby ​​color. Very good recipe!
