Chicken hearts stewed with carrots and onions in sour cream
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to stew chicken hearts stewed with carrots and onions in sour cream? Prepare all the indicated ingredients. It is better to take the hearts chilled or fresh. These hearts will cook quickly and will be soft. If they were frozen, then defrost them first, preferably slowly, on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Read about proper defrosting in the article at the bottom of this recipe.
STEP 2
Rinse the hearts in running water. Cut the washed hearts in half, cut off any pieces of possible fat, and remove films and blood clots.
STEP 3
Peel the onion, rinse under cold running water to prevent your eyes from watering when slicing, and chop to your taste (into cubes, half rings, feathers, etc.)
STEP 4
Wash the carrots with a brush under running water, peel, rinse and grate on a medium or coarse grater. If desired, you can cut the carrots into strips.
STEP 5
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the chicken hearts in it, stirring occasionally until they are browned, over medium heat. How to choose a frying pan and oil for frying, read articles on these topics. You will find links to them at the end of this recipe.
STEP 6
Add chopped carrots and onions to the fried hearts. Fry the vegetables together with the hearts until soft. In terms of time, it’s about 10 minutes on medium heat, but be guided by the features of the stove, the selected frying pan and the method of cutting the ingredients; it may take a little less or more time. The main thing is to make sure that the food does not burn.
STEP 7
Add all the sour cream to the hearts at once, stir, reduce heat, add salt and pepper to taste. Stir again. For useful information about sour cream, read the article at the link at the end of this recipe.
STEP 8
Next, add water and simmer over low heat until tender, about 25 minutes more. Check readiness at the end of stewing; the hearts should be soft. If necessary, you can add a little more water and simmer.
STEP 9
Serve the finished hearts with your favorite side dish: pasta, potatoes or rice. If desired, sprinkle them with chopped herbs. Bon appetit!
