Cooking timeCooking time: 20 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

To prepare pears in caramel for dessert, you will need pears of any variety - you will just need to select the cooking time - I have hard pears, sugar, butter and a little water.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Cut the pears in half, and then into quarters - in fact, you can use any cut, I analyzed many recipes presented on the Internet: cut into halves, quarters and even slices - the finer the cut, the less time it takes to prepare the dessert. I chose the universal version with a medium cut. The main thing is not to finely chop the soft, juicy pears, otherwise you will end up with jam!

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

It doesn’t matter how you place the pears in the pan - you will still have to turn them over several times.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add half a cup of water and cook the pears over medium heat, turning them from side to side occasionally. I even kept it covered for a while so that it would cook more evenly. It will take about 5-7 minutes to cook.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

When the pears can be pierced with a fork but still firm, add the butter.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Melt the butter by shaking the pan, the pears will lightly brown - this is actually caramelizing the sweet juice they contain.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add a heaping tablespoon of sugar, scattering evenly over the pan.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place on the fire and let the sugar melt.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

When the sugar is completely melted, cook some pears in it, shaking the pan. and add little by little the remaining water - boiling water, I added it straight from the boiling kettle. Now cook the pears in the resulting sugar syrup until tender.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Drain the syrup at the end and brown the pears a little more. Place hot pears in bowls or serving plates.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Serve the caramelized pears with ice cream, drizzled with the resulting caramel syrup.
