  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to bake tomatoes in foil in the oven? First, prepare the necessary ingredients. It is very important to initially choose the right tomatoes. The tomatoes should be juicy, but strong and dense. Soft fruits do not hold their shape well; during processing and baking, they will spread into a shapeless mass and spoil the appearance of the dish. Tomatoes on a vine are ideal. The finished dish looks more impressive.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the tomatoes and dry them. Cut off the tops and carefully, being careful not to damage the walls, remove all the pulp. Depending on the size of the tomatoes themselves, you may need a little more for this amount of filling. For example, 7-8 pieces. If you wish, you can add pulp without seeds to the filling. Or use it in another dish, such as an omelet.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pre-cook the rice in plenty of boiling salted water until almost done, about 12 minutes. The exact cooking time depends on the rice you choose. Therefore, read the instructions on the package. Place the rice in a colander and dry.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. You can use any cheese you like. Mozzarella, Gouda or regular Russian will do.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Shake the olives off the brine and cut into rings.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Finely chop the dill and parsley.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

In a bowl, combine rice, grated cheese, olives and garlic cloves passed through a press. Season the filling with salt and pepper and mix well.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Fill the tomatoes with the prepared rice and cheese filling. For a more impressive appetizer, the filling should rise above the tomatoes, because during the baking process the cheese will melt and the filling will settle slightly. Cover the stuffed tomatoes with the previously cut lids.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Wrap each tomato in a small piece of foil and place in a baking dish. Place in an oven preheated to 190°C for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts. The exact time depends on your technique and the variety of tomatoes. It is very important not to overcook the tomatoes in the oven, otherwise the walls may burst, all the juice will leak out, and the fruits themselves will lose their shape.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Sprinkle the finished tomatoes with chopped herbs and serve hot. Bon appetit!
