Dishes with oregano
In the culinary traditions of the Mediterranean peoples, oregano takes pride of place as one of the most frequently used seasonings, sometimes even an indispensable component of a dish recipe. The aroma spread by oregano is a distinctive feature of this type of seasoning, thanks to which it is in demand, first of all, as an aromatic additive. However, the beneficial properties of oregano, known since ancient times, have made it an active component of many folk medicinal tinctures and ointments. The range of dishes in which oregano is used includes mushroom dishes, soups, especially those based on seafood, and various types of pasta, starting with classic examples of Italian cooking. Oregano is used most actively for cooking in Spanish, Greek, French, and South American cuisines. It is also good in mushroom dishes. It is very pleasant to infuse vegetable oil or vinegar into it. To ensure that the plant does not lose its smell, food should be seasoned with it about five minutes before removing from the heat.
