A chic sweet lunch will especially delight your kids! Dumplings with strawberries are the best treat in our family in the summer. These dumplings for the New Year, for example, can be prepared with any filling. They will replace a snack and complement your table. Choux pastry for dumplings is a bit difficult to obtain. It’s not all that simple, and there are certain requirements for the dish. However, I indicated all this in the description of the recipe, so that the likelihood of making a mistake is minimized. This culinary recipe may surprise you a little, but after trying it just once, you will understand how delicious this food is. It’s also quite economical, which is also an undeniable advantage.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

    Ingredients

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Pour flour and finely chopped pieces of butter into a cup, add salt here. And we begin to knead with a spoon, pouring boiling water on top in a thin stream. Continue stirring until no lumps remain.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

The consistency of the dough should be similar to good old pastry, only a little steeper. Then dump the dough onto the table, onto which flour has previously been poured and knead until the desired elastic consistency.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the dough in the refrigerator for half an hour. After a while, take the dough, roll out a large thin pancake on the table, cut out circles from it.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

We fill the circles with the filling you have chosen and prepared in advance.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

If you get a lot of dumplings, no problem - some can be frozen.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Next is the most important point. If you simply boil custard dumplings, you will end up with something shapeless and inedible. Therefore, they need to be steamed. Freshly molded ones need to be steamed for 3-4 minutes, and frozen ones for 5-6 minutes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

OK it's all over Now! Custard dumplings are ready!

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

    Bon appetit!

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

This is how they look in cross section.

The dumplings turned out delicious, I’ve only made them with cherries before, but the ones with strawberries are excellent, thank you

I know this recipe and love it - it’s just a lifesaver in the country! There is a minimum of products, berries are on the bushes... Mmmm... By the way, I just cook them in a saucepan - I don’t know, everything works out for me and doesn’t spread. Only the dumplings become huge :) I’ll do it with photos.

I didn’t know a way to pour boiling water over the dough. It's a little strange, but I guess I should try it. We love jam at home and I also steam them, I’m so used to it, even when I lived in Ukraine

Be sure to try it, I only use choux pastry, although I add vegetable oil to the dough, not butter, the dough turns out very tender

There you go! I used frozen strawberries for the filling. 30 minutes of dough-making, and about 30 minutes of cooking (I rarely steam dumplings, so I still couldn’t decide on the degree of doneness). And indeed, when steamed they turn out much more beautiful and do not lose their shape. But in a saucepan, if anything, it’s also possible! In general,
