    How to bake potato gratin in the oven? Gather the necessary ingredients for the dish. It is better to cut the cold butter into small pieces in advance. I strongly recommend using nutmeg for the dish, it gives the dish a unique aroma.

    Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. You can use any cheese, as long as it melts well.

    Wash the potatoes, peel and cut into thin slices about 2 mm thick.

    Grease a small deep baking sheet or baking dish with butter. I left small pieces on the bottom so that the potatoes would not stick to the bottom when baking.

    Place some of the potato slices in the pan, overlapping them like shingles, in one layer. Top the potatoes with salt, pepper and sprinkle with nutmeg. For convenience and uniformity, I advise you to mix all the spices in one bowl.

    Pour some of the cream over the potatoes. You will need 2-3 tbsp. l.

    Sprinkle grated cheese on top.

    Place another layer of potatoes on top, also sprinkle with spices, pour cream and sprinkle with cheese. Repeat layers until all the potatoes, cream and cheese are gone. Place pieces of butter on top.

    Bake the potato gratin in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 50 minutes. If the top layer is browned, but the dish itself is not ready yet, cover the pan with foil. Serve the finished gratin hot, cut into portions. Bon appetit!

I made potato gratin in the oven using this recipe. It turned out very tasty! The potatoes are spicy with spices, the cheese and cream add tenderness and a pleasant creamy taste. For the spices I added potato seasoning and smoked paprika. I changed the top layer a little - I sprinkled breadcrumbs on top of the butter. As a result, a crispy, delicious crust was formed. I baked the gratin for an hour, the potatoes were perfectly baked in the inner layers. I really love the combination of cream, cheese and potatoes) Thank you very much for the recipe! I will make gratin more often)

And I decided to make a potato gratin from potatoes in the oven, there was no nutmeg, I added other spices. The result was a very tasty soft potato soaked in cream. Next time I’ll definitely make it with nutmeg. Thanks for the recipe!
