Dried rosehip compote
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to cook dried rosehip compote? Prepare the ingredients according to the list.
STEP 2
Dried rose hips can be purchased at a pharmacy or store, but it is better to use those collected independently in environmentally friendly places and dried according to the rules (in a well-ventilated place, not in direct sunlight).
STEP 3
Rinse dried rose hips thoroughly. It’s even better to pour boiling water over it to remove plaque and dust that may be on the surface of the berries. Place the berries in a saucepan or other container for cooking compote, crush the rose hips a little with a masher, but do not grind them into dust. The berries should remain intact.
STEP 4
Pour clean cold water over the berries and put on fire. When the water boils, reduce the heat to medium. Add sugar. Its quantity can be changed depending on taste preferences. You can use honey instead of sugar if you are not allergic to this product.
STEP 5
Boil the compote for 5-7 minutes from the moment it boils. There is no need to cook rose hips longer so that all the beneficial substances and vitamins are not destroyed. Cover the pan with a lid and leave the drink to brew for about half an hour.
STEP 6
Before pouring the compote into cups, it is better to strain it through a strainer. If the compote tastes too concentrated and strong, then it can be diluted with boiled cold or warm water. Bon appetit!
