Canapes with olives and cheese on skewers

Not just beautiful, but also a very tasty snack! These tiny, but very delicious-tasting canapes are ideal for alcoholic drinks such as cognac, brandy or rum. I would say they have an explosive taste. The combination of all the ingredients together is very intriguing. You definitely won’t be left indifferent!

Step-by-step preparation

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

To prepare this wonderful appetizer, choose the right cheese. Hard cheese goes best with olives and lemon, so grab that. It will be even better if the cheese tastes sharper, but you can also use something sweeter and milkier. Cut the cheese into cubes, but not too large (about 1 cm x 1 cm, but no more than 1.5 cm), because the olives themselves are small. It will be more beautiful this way, and the cheese will not overwhelm the taste of the other ingredients.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Use olives that are pitted. Open the jar of olives and use a spoon with holes to remove the required amount. Place the olives on a napkin so that excess liquid drips off so that later this liquid does not spoil the appearance of the dish. If you wish, you can use stuffed olives, for example with pepper or even anchovy.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour boiling water over the lemon and wipe it dry. Then thinly slice it into circles. Cut the circles in half to make lemon half rings. Lemon slices must be thinly sliced so that they bend well and can be placed on skewers without any problems.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Now start assembling the canapés. To do this, use skewers or, if there are none, use regular toothpicks. Heat halves of lemon slices onto skewers from two corners. This way you will get a lemon shaped like a sail.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Following the lemon, string green olives onto skewers, then place a piece of cheese on each skewer. If lemon and olives can be swapped, then cheese cannot. It must be strung last, since it has a square shape and, due to its hardness, holds it, which means it will be stable, unlike other ingredients. The canapes are ready.

Very nice. I’ll also suggest this version of a tartine with grapes and cheese.

An interesting, quick-to-prepare appetizer: canapes with olives and cheese on skewers turned out to be delicious! The sourness of lemon, the creamy tenderness of cheese and the unique taste of olives are in perfect harmony with each other! I cut the cheese into cubes and cut the lemon into half rings. I threaded all the ingredients onto skewers and served. Simple, fast and very tasty! Thanks for the great recipe!
