Brushwood fried in oil

A recipe for delicious, crispy and almost weightless brushwood for you! The traditional Polish sweet, faworka, is crispy, powdered strips of dough. In Russia they are better known as “brushwood”. The word “favorites” comes from the name of the colored ribbons that in the Middle Ages knights attached to the clothes of their beautiful ladies as a sign of favor, which in Latin sounds like favor. Polish housewives traditionally prepare faworkas, as well as pies and donuts before Lent. How to cook them?

If you roll out the dough thinly, then you can roll several strips at once. And pour honey over the finished product. Then it comes out like baklava, the main thing is not to overdo it with the number of strips, otherwise it may not have time to cook thoroughly.

I always cooked using 1-2 teaspoons of rum or cognac, or vodka. This gives the dish a more subtle taste and sophistication. (Like rum impregnation in some cakes. Just added to the closet during cooking) When there was none of the of the listed ingredients, the brushwood did not taste as rich.

Forgot to add. My family and I rarely have enough of them for a long time)) They run out quickly. That’s why I make several servings at once. Don’t forget to change the oil to fresh if burnt crumbs appear. Or as needed. It's not worth saving. You should not fry in old oil, otherwise you may have heartburn and feel unwell, and the dish may taste rancid. Overcooked oil is just as harmful if used for other purposes.

My husband has been asking me to cook brushwood for him for a long time; to be honest, I’ve never done this, but judging by the recipe, there’s nothing complicated about it, so I’ll try it and be sure to post pictures.
