Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
We prepare all the ingredients necessary for making Roman layer cake. We bake homemade pancakes in advance according to our favorite recipe, but it is better to bake the pancakes not thin lacy ones, but a little thicker, so that the cake does not turn out very flat and cloyingly sweet. You will also need condensed milk and walnuts to make the pie.
STEP 2
If the walnuts are raw, then first fry them in a dry frying pan, and only then chop them finely in a blender bowl or using a meat grinder. When buying nuts, you should choose high-quality kernels so that they do not become bitter later.
STEP 3
Place the first pancake on a flat dish, grease it with condensed milk on top and sprinkle with chopped nuts, distributing them evenly throughout the pancake.
STEP 4
Place the pancake again and do the same procedure with condensed milk and chopped nuts. Thus, we continue to assemble the pie, alternating layers of pancakes, condensed milk and nuts until the pancakes are gone.
STEP 5
When the pie is completely assembled, put it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours so that all the pancake layers are saturated with condensed milk.
