    Add dry spices. I used an Uzbek mixture containing turmeric, red pepper, cumin, sumac, and barberry. You can take any other spices to your taste, for example, Provençal herbs.

    Place the bread cubes in an even layer on the baking sheet. There is no need to lubricate it with anything beforehand. But you can line the baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat to make it easier to clean after cooking.

    In portions, evenly pour the mixture of butter and garlic over the future croutons. Stir until all sides are coated with the fragrant butter mixture. In advance (10-15 minutes before cooking), preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Bake.

    After about 5 minutes, when the croutons are golden on top, stir them to ensure even cooking. Then return the pan to the oven so that the croutons brown on the other side as well.

    Remove the pan with bread slices from the oven. Sprinkle them with salt to taste. Let them cool. Some croutons may still be soft - they will soften as they cool. The main thing here is not to dry them out in the oven.

    How to store croutons? When completely cool, transfer them to an airtight container. Croutons can be stored for several weeks, so you can prepare large quantities at once.

I still had homemade white bread and made some delicious garlic croutons from it. I really like this way of preparing these crackers, but before I flavored them with vegetable oil. With the cream, the crackers acquired a pleasant creamy taste. From spices I added paprika, turmeric and dried parsley. Well, I added a little salt for taste. I added garlic in powder form to make the mixture more homogeneous. I decided to stir immediately in a bowl so that the crackers had time to soak in the “marinade”. I baked it in a glass form, I generally like glass, it’s easy to wash) The croutons spent about 20 minutes in total in the oven, stirred them twice. During this time, the crackers were perfectly saturated with oil and spices. They became yellow, beautiful, rosy. And most importantly, tasty and aromatic! They crunch so well! Serve immediately hot with chicken broth.
