Chicken in tomato sauce

Great taste with a minimum of ingredients. Most of the dishes I cook are multi-ingredient. However, sometimes simple recipes for dishes slip through my head. And this recipe is just such a case. The chicken turns out to be dietary, juicy, and soft. Serve it with any side dish.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make chicken in tomato sauce? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You will need chicken breasts and legs. But according to this recipe, you can cook not only legs and fillets, but also other parts of the chicken, for example, drumsticks and quarters. If necessary, defrost the meat by moving it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator in advance.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the chicken parts, remove membranes and trim off excess fat. Cut the meat into medium-sized portions.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the chicken parts in a suitable size pan with a thick bottom and add 300 ml of water. Place the pan over medium heat. When it boils, reduce the heat to low and simmer the broth for about 15 minutes, periodically skimming off any foam that forms.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Drain the broth into a separate container (later it can be used to prepare some kind of soup). Pour 250 ml of clean cold water into the pan. Take high-quality water, with a neutral taste, filtered or bottled. It is better not to use tap water, as it will give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Add ketchup to the pan and simmer the contents over low heat under the lid for about 20 minutes, occasionally turning the chicken. Ketchup can be replaced with tomato sauce, which should first be diluted in a cup of boiled cool water.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Peel the garlic cloves, pass them through a press and place them in the pan. Taste and add salt if necessary. If desired, add prepared chicken spices. In this case, read the composition on the package. If there is already salt in the mixture, take this into account when you salt the meat, otherwise you risk oversalting. Simmer the dish for another 3 minutes and remove from heat. You can serve stewed chicken with any side dish or vegetables. Before serving, sprinkle the dish with chopped herbs.

I needed to cook something from chicken wings to go with buckwheat. I was thinking about baking or frying, but unexpectedly I found an interesting recipe for chicken in tomato sauce on the website. An excellent option: simple preparation and dietary meat without a fried crust. I decided to cut the wings in half at the joint, leaving the tips. Although you can cook a good light broth from them. I poured water over the wings, brought to a boil and boiled for 10 minutes, because there is not enough meat on them. The broth was drained and filled with clean water. Added diluted tomato paste, chicken seasoning and lightly salted. Simmered for about 15-20 minutes. It is better, of course, to do this in a deep frying pan, cauldron or non-stick pan. But I stewed it in a regular enamel pan. In this case, at the very beginning you need to stir the chicken pieces so that they do not stick to the bottom. The chicken turned out very tasty, soft and juicy! We liked this dish, and we poured tomato sauce on the buckwheat, which made it much tastier. Thanks for the recipe!
