Homemade horseradish tincture

The history of this ancient alcoholic drink is quite remarkable. It is alleged that somewhere in the dusty archives there exists a certain document signed by Tsar Peter the Great. According to this document, each farmstead was obliged to have a certain number of bottles or barrels of horseradish in its reserves. And workers who worked in harsh winter conditions were ordered to issue it free of charge.

Today, those who are planning to prepare homemade horseradish are driven by completely different motives)) First of all, this is a rather aromatic and unusual drink. They infuse it with vodka, alcohol, moonshine. The main ingredient, horseradish root, can be taken fresh, dry, frozen, or canned. The strength of horseradish is around 36 degrees. Storage time is up to three years if certain rules are followed (darkness, coolness, no sunlight).

The minimum time for infusion is four days. Less is possible, but the vigor of the drink will be lower than required.

In addition to horseradish and alcohol base, the classic composition of the products includes: honey, mustard seeds, lemon juice. All ingredients are mixed with each other (horseradish is grated) and infused in a hermetically sealed container in a warm, dark place. It is recommended to shake the bottle twice a day.

You can also make horseradish at home with the addition of garlic, celery stem or root, black allspice, cinnamon, vanillin, and ginger. You can supplement the composition with any mixtures of seasonings to suit your taste.
