  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a ham and cheese sandwich? Prepare your food. Take special square bread for toasting - it will be more convenient to make a sandwich with it, and the sandwich itself will turn out more beautiful. Although it will be delicious with a regular loaf. Calculate the amount of ham, tomato and lettuce depending on their size.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

First of all, toast the bread slices. Do this either in a toaster oven or on a grill pan like I did. Fry in a dry frying pan until stripes appear.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Rinse the lettuce leaves well and dry with a paper towel. They should not be wet, otherwise the bread will become soggy and not tasty. Take any type of salad - regular leaf, iceberg, frisee, arugula, etc.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Wash the tomato and cut into thin slices. You can also take other vegetables - fresh or pickled cucumbers, bell peppers.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Spread one slice of bread with mayonnaise. You can make mayonnaise yourself. Or take other sauces instead - ketchup, mustard, any salad or mixtures thereof.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place lettuce leaves on bread. I could fit two small ones.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place tomato slices on the leaves.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

The next layer is ham. In addition to ham, any boiled or smoked sausage or meat is suitable. If you are using uncooked cuts, try to cut the ham as thinly as possible. And add lettuce leaves again.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place portioned pieces of melted cheese on top. Or any other you like or have available. The main thing is that it tastes good.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Cover everything with a piece of bread. Lightly press the sandwich on top.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Traditionally, sandwiches are cut diagonally to make them easier to eat. You don’t have to cut it, but eat it whole. Bon appetit!

I made a ham and cheese sandwich for my husband as a snack while he worked. I used olive bread for the sandwich. Since I cooked it in a bread machine in a rectangular bowl, the slices of this bread turn out square. I picked lettuce leaves from the “bed” on the windowsill. I didn’t have ham, I took pork sausage instead. The cheese I used was Dutch. I cut the sandwich in half diagonally, and then cut each half into two more triangles to make it easier to eat them while driving. The husband was pleased. He said it turned out delicious. I snuck a piece of sandwich from him before walking him to work. It turned out really appetizing, despite the simplicity of preparation. Thanks for the recipe!
