Homemade Turkish lemonade
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
Prepare food. Plain water, it’s good to take filtered or melted water. No need to boil.
STEP 2
Pour sugar into a wide container, add heated water, stir and let the sugar dissolve completely.
STEP 3
Wash lemons and orange well with hot water and dry. Remove the zest from the citrus fruits without touching the white layer and squeeze out the juice.
STEP 4
Add the zest from two lemons and an orange to the water with sugar, as well as all the resulting juice. It’s not scary if pulp or seeds get in. Mix everything well and let the water cool.
STEP 5
Pour the future lemonade into a jug of a suitable size, close the lid and put it in the refrigerator to steep overnight or at least until the liquid cools well, this is at least two hours.
STEP 6
Before serving, filter the lemonade through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. It is good to serve the drink in tall glasses with a straw so that the acid does not destroy the enamel of the teeth; you can add ice if desired. Lemonade is wonderfully refreshing, especially in the heat!
