Homemade Turkey Ham
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make turkey ham? Take the turkey fillet in one piece, the fresher the better. You can choose your own dry spices; ready-made mixed mixtures for poultry will do. Vegetable oil - any, but odorless. If you wish, you can bake it completely in a sleeve or foil, but this turkey will be good without these devices. I just cover it with foil on top - you choose your preferred option.
STEP 2
Wash the turkey fillet well, be sure to pat dry with a paper towel. Cut off all membranes and tendons, if any, from the meat. Then rub the fillet with salt, rubbing it well into the surface of the meat. Also grate with ground paprika.
STEP 3
Rub the meat with poultry seasoning, if using. And also ground pepper if you want to add some heat to your ham.
STEP 4
Place the turkey meat rubbed with salt and spices into a food bag and refrigerate for 5-12 hours - the longer it marinates, the more tender and aromatic the result will be. After time, place the turkey fillet in a baking dish greased with vegetable oil, cover the top foil and place in an oven preheated to 200-250 degrees for 20-35 minutes. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.
STEP 5
Then remove the foil and lightly brown the surface of the meat. When the oven turns off, do not remove the ham from the oven, but leave it to cool in the oven for 2 hours. In addition to the meat, you'll get delicious turkey juice that can be added to soup or used to make gravy. After 2 hours, remove the turkey from the oven. You can additionally put it under the press by placing it in cling film or a plastic bag. But the ham is already dense.
