Homemade red velvet cake
The very first, original Red Velvet cake, or it would be more correct to call it Red velvet cake, appeared in the distant twenties of the last century. Its parent was the American company The Adams Extract. She, by the way, still sells her creation in the form of a dry mixture, from which anyone can bake a masterpiece of the same name. In subsequent years, the fashion for it either soared or cooled down. There's even a plaque on New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel that says it's the birthplace of the famous Red Velvet Cake.
This cake has gained wide popularity in our country in the last decade. It attracts not only with its taste, but also with its absolutely stunning appearance and design. The cake has a bright red color. Previously, confectioners achieved this with the help of beet juice, which also added more juiciness to the biscuit. Nowadays the cakes are painted red with regular food coloring.
The combination of bright red cakes and white cream cheese enhances the effect on any sweet tooth. In its classic form, the cake has three or more layers coated with white cream. The cakes should be perfectly smooth, as should the layer of filling. The top of the cake can be covered with crumbs from the same cake layers. Or coat with cream cheese (be sure to apply an even layer!). They also like to decorate it with fresh fruits and berries, pour it over with mirror glaze, and decorate it using a culinary syringe.
In general, according to experts, red velvet cake was baked in the United States long before the appearance of the above-mentioned company. According to some sources, “velvet” pastries appeared there at the beginning of the 19th century. And it was prepared with the addition of fresh beets and their juice. However, no matter who the “father” of this amazing dessert is, it’s worth picking up a recipe for Red Velvet Cake so that you can cook it yourself at least once. What do you think?))
