Roses made from homemade colored mastic
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
We will need a mixing container, a sieve and a coffee grinder. In fact, I never recorded the amount of powder I used, periodically turning it into sugar as needed. But if anyone doesn’t have a coffee grinder, you can always buy powder in the store, and believe me, it’s better to take more)))
STEP 2
Rub the bottom of the container with oil.
STEP 3
I use 2 types of dyes, dry and gel. Gels can also be added to finished mastic.
STEP 4
if you use dry ones, they must first be dissolved in a drop of water or lemon juice.
STEP 5
So as not to buy lemon every time just for a few drops, I use ready-made lemon juice.
STEP 6
pour out the marshmallows and our dye and put them in the microwave for 10-60 seconds, depending on the amount of marshmallows. (if 200g, then for about a minute)
STEP 7
It is advisable to watch how it heats up; as soon as it doubles in volume, turn it off immediately. It is important not to overheat the marshmallows, otherwise the mastic will be spoiled, it is better to put it again later. Someone puts it in a water bath instead of a microwave, to be honest I tried it once, it didn’t work, apparently it overheated and the mastic really started to crumble, I had to throw everything away, I didn’t dare try again)),
STEP 8
Since the sieve fits very conveniently on this container, I unload everything into it. I dusted the bottom of the bowl with powder and sprinkled the powder on top, gradually kneading the dough. (It sticks to your hands terribly, be patient, this is normal)))
STEP 9
When the mastic has cooled a little, you can add more powder. If you throw hot marshmallows on a large amount of powder, it will curl into lumps and you risk ruining everything.
STEP 10
I need a more saturated color, so I add more gel dye.
STEP 11
The mastic becomes elastic, stops sticking to your hands, pack tightly in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
STEP 12
We pinch off the amount we need for work, hide the rest in film, as the mastic dries and crumbles.
STEP 13
Roll out the mastic with a rolling pin. but not too thinly, because dried roses will be very fragile. So, the first option is to make flowers of different sizes, since I don’t have any cuttings, I first cut out their papers, applied them and then cut them out of mastic with a knife.
STEP 14
like this
STEP 15
We agitate the edges with a tool or something similar, this is to make our rose more realistic.
STEP 16
Place a larger flower in foil to harden in this form.
STEP 17
make the middle
STEP 18
and starting with the smaller flowers, we wrap the petals of our rose one at a time.
STEP 19
and the last flower that dried up. This is what happened.
STEP 20
Using the second method, I also cut out blanks from paper.
STEP 21
I cut it out and worried it.
STEP 22
I also made the middle and put our petals in order, starting from the middle of the previous one.
STEP 23
and so on from smallest to largest. At the bottom we cut off the excess mastic and make a neat round shape.
STEP 24
I place our rose on the foil until it hardens to give our petals splendor.
STEP 25
Now we've come to the third method. In my opinion it is the fastest and simplest. We take a shot glass and a shot glass with a larger diameter, I have a glass and squeeze out circles. We wrap the petals as in the previous version and send them to dry on foil.
STEP 26
This is how the rose turned out. To be honest, I didn’t even bother with the petals of the subsequent roses; they were also beautiful and original.
STEP 27
There are not enough leaves for the complete set, fortunately I have plungers, well, who doesn’t have them.... be patient and move forward)))
