STEP 1

How to make tomato sauce for cabbage rolls with sour cream? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. Choose medium-sized onions and carrots. Sour cream can be of any fat content. The higher the fat content, the tastier and thicker the finished sauce.
STEP 2

Peel the onions and carrots and rinse them to remove dirt. Chop the onion and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
STEP 3

Heat a frying pan until hot and pour a little vegetable oil on it. Add the prepared vegetables and fry them for 3-4 minutes, stirring so that they do not start to burn. During this time, the onions and carrots will become softer.
STEP 4

Add tomato paste and chopped garlic to the pan. You can simply chop it finely with a knife or pass it through a press. Fry for a couple more minutes.
STEP 5

Then add sour cream. Add salt and spices to taste. For spices I use ground pepper and dried basil. Mix all ingredients with sour cream.
STEP 6

Pour hot water into the pan and add chopped herbs. Mix thoroughly. Bring to a boil. At this point the sauce is ready!
STEP 7

Place the cabbage rolls in the tomato sauce, cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
STEP 8

Stuffed cabbage rolls cooked in this tomato sauce are very juicy, aromatic and tasty. The sauce goes with any side dish. Enjoy your meal!
