Potatoes with lard in the oven

STEP 1

How to bake potatoes with lard in the oven? Prepare everything you need for the recipe. Select potato tubers of the same medium or large size. You can use any lard: fresh, salted or smoked. The set of seasonings and dry spices can also be absolutely anything according to your taste and desire.
STEP 2

If you use new potatoes, cook them with their skins on. Wash each tuber thoroughly with a sponge to remove all remaining soil and dirt, rinse several times in clean water and dry with paper towels. I used mature potatoes, so I peeled them completely.
STEP 3

Cut the skin off the lard. Cut it into thin slices about 3 mm thick, as in the photo.
STEP 4

Using a thin, sharp knife, make longitudinal cuts in each potato. Make the distance between the cuts about 1 cm. Do not cut the tubers all the way down 3-4 mm.
STEP 5

Insert a piece of lard into each cut.
STEP 6

Place the tubers with lard in a suitable-sized baking dish. Cover with foil and place in a preheated oven for 40-45 minutes at a temperature of 180-220 degrees (depend on the capabilities of your oven).
STEP 7

Meanwhile, prepare a fragrant marinade. Pour vegetable oil into a deep small cup. Add garlic, passed through a press, a pinch of your favorite spices and fresh herbs, finely chopped. Mix everything well.
STEP 8

After the specified time, remove the pan from the oven and remove the foil. Using a silicone brush, brush each tuber with aromatic oil.
STEP 9

Sprinkle a little salt on top to taste. I used Adyghe salt. Place the pan back in the oven and bake until all ingredients are cooked through. This will take you another 30 to 40 minutes.
STEP 10

Rinse and dry fresh herbs. Cut with a knife as finely as possible.
STEP 11

Sprinkle the finished potatoes with herbs and serve immediately.
