Navaga stewed in the oven with onions

Delicious oven-baked navaga with a crispy crust. Navaga stewed in the oven with onions is an excellent substitute for fried fish; it is not as greasy as in a frying pan. And you don’t have to stand at the stove, afraid of getting burned by hot oil when turning it over, or that it will fall apart when turning it over.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

We will prepare all the necessary ingredients for preparing navaga, and we will cook it in the oven using the baking method. Navaga is sold either whole or gutted without the head. I prefer to buy whole fish and process it myself. In this case, I am absolutely sure that this fish is fresh. Turn on the oven to warm up to 180 degrees.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Defrost navaga in the refrigerator, if required. Then we clean off the scales with a knife, this is done very quickly, since they are small and come off easily. Then we cut off the fins with scissors, cut off the head and tail. We open the abdomen and remove the entrails and, of course, the black film from the inner surface of the abdomen. We rinse the navaga under cold water and dry it with a paper towel. If the navaga is large, you can cut it into pieces.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place our prepared fish in a bowl, salt, pepper and add one tablespoon of vegetable oil, mix. We need the navaga to be covered with oil, salt and pepper. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Peel the onions, rinse and cut into half rings. Place the onion in a baking dish, add salt and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir the onions and spread them into an even layer across the bottom of the pan. We need it not only for taste, but also as a pillow so that the fish does not stick to the bottom.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Pour flour into a bowl and transfer the fish into it, roll in flour.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place the breaded fish in the pan on top of the onions.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Place our form with navaga in a hot oven and bake for 30 minutes, until cooked and golden brown. Remove from the oven, our baked navaga is ready.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place on plates and serve. Bon appetit.
